Achtsamkeit & Self-Leadership

What are your professional milestones?

I started out with a degree in sociology and psychology and then soon moved on to work in sports management to be Communication Manager and head of communication of the International Fencing Federation. It was not a fulfilling position, but I learned a lot about business and management there.

When I realized that this position did not suit me anymore, I changed career paths to become a certified mindfulness and self-leadership trainer and coach. To me, this means loving what I do for a living. It is just wonderful to see people find their innate calmness, clarity and confidence to navigate their lives.

So I can say that every step in my career – my studies, my first jobs, my decision to become a trainer & coach – is important, because it has led me to where and who I am now.

What is your most defining career experience?

There is not a single defining career experience I can point out.

In retrospective, I would day that I learned most from failures. That is, that even when I failed, my life went on. And now I am in a happy place.

What do you recommend to applicants for the Femtec Career-Building Programme?

Normally, don’t give advice. Because I believe that you are the expert in your own life and have your reasons to the your life the way you do.
If I look back on my own path, four learnings stand out:

It is ok to make mistakes.

Be open. Everything is an opportunity.

Do your inner work. It makes life much easier.

Doubts are just thoughts, even if they sound very true. Especially self-doubts.
