Promoting tomorrow’s talents today

We are the Network for STEM enthusiasts!

EMPOWER. CONNECT. INSPIRE.

In a world where innovation and progress set the pace, women in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) are of crucial importance. At Femtec, we believe that gender equality and diversity are the driving forces behind groundbreaking discoveries. In times of rapid technological advancement, we are at the forefront of creating new opportunities for exchange, fostering a future where the diversity we strive for is equally represented in all its facets and perspectives in the world of tomorrow.

That’s why we spark curiosity and interest in technical and scientific fields as early as at school and support female STEM students on their journey to a successful career entry. Our Network connects universities and companies as central actors from academia and industry with Femtec scholarship holders and professionals, creating new synergies and opportunities for collaboration. With this aim, Femtec GmbH was founded in 2001 as a public-private partnership by EAF Berlin and the Technical University of Berlin. We recognize that the binary concept of woman and man does not reflect the reality of all people’s lives. Therefore, our commitment is directed towards all individuals who identify as women as well as non-binary persons.

We are particularly connected to the Femtec.Alumnae e.V., which was founded in 2008 by participants of the Career-Building Programme. In close cooperation, we aim to promote equal opportunities in STEM professions, make active role models visible, and transform corporate cultures. Together, we stand for female empowerment in STEM!

Our Mission

Despite ongoing efforts towards equality in the workplace, women are significantly underrepresented in STEM professions, comprising only 22% of the workforce.

However, the importance of diverse teams is undeniable: Mixed teams are proven to be more resilient, profitable, and attractive to (new) employees. However, male-dominated systems and structural barriers such as gender stereotypes, unequal pay and advancement opportunities, lack of role models, and perpetuating advantages make it difficult for women to attain their rightful place.

Our mission is to advance women’s empowerment and career development in STEM!
